Description

This crispy fried chicken recipe is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser! I've been making it for family gatherings for years, and it always disappears fast. The secret is the triple-dipping technique, which creates an incredibly crunchy and flavorful crust. It's perfect for a summer barbecue or a casual weeknight dinner. While it takes a little time, the results are well worth the effort. Serve it with your favorite sides like coleslaw and mashed potatoes for a complete and satisfying meal. This recipe is definitely not low-carb, but it's perfect for a treat!

Ingredients (11 ingredients)

  • 1 quart vegetable oil
  • 4.33 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 tbsp garlic salt
  • 1 tbsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp poultry seasoning
  • 1.5 cups beer
  • 2 piece egg yolks
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp ground black pepper
  • 3 pound whole chicken, cut into pieces

Preparation (5 steps)

Prepare Seasoned Flour

Thermomix® Setting
10 sec/Speed 3

Add 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 tablespoons of garlic salt, 1 tablespoon of ground black pepper, 1 tablespoon of paprika, and 1/2 teaspoon of poultry seasoning to the mixing bowl. Mix for 10 Sec./Stufe 3 to combine all ingredients.

Prepare Beer Batter

Thermomix® Setting
5 sec/Speed 3

In a separate bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups of beer, the remaining 1 1/3 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 beaten egg yolks, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of ground black pepper. If the batter is too thick, thin it with a little more beer. Transfer the batter to the mixing bowl and mix for 5 Sec./Stufe 3 to combine all ingredients.

Triple Dip Chicken

Moisten each chicken piece with a little water. Dip the chicken in the seasoned flour mixture, shake off the excess, then dip in the beer batter. Finally, dip the chicken in the seasoned flour mixture once more. Place the coated chicken on a plate.

Fry Chicken

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer to 175 degrees C. Carefully lower the chicken pieces into the hot oil in batches. Fry until crispy and well-browned, about 15 to 18 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone should read 74 degrees C.

Drain and Serve

Transfer the fried chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve immediately and enjoy!
