Description

This Brussels sprouts casserole is a hearty main course that is ideal for the cold season. With Brussels sprouts, smoked sausage and a creamy sauce, it is a hearty dish for the whole family. Preparation takes about 50 minutes and is designed for 4 servings.

Ingredients (11 ingredients)

  • 1 kg Brussels sprouts
  • 200 g Smoked sausage, small, smoked
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tbsp Flour
  • 1 Liter Milk
  • Sugar
  • Nutmeg
  • Salt
  • 1 piece Egg(s)
  • 100 g Parsley
  • Gouda, grated

Preparation (5 steps)

Prepare Brussels sprouts

Cook 1 kg Brussels sprouts in salted water, covered, for 15-20 minutes. Cut 200 g smoked sausage into slices. Drain the Brussels sprouts and save 1/8 liter of the broth. Preheat oven to 220 °C.

Prepare roux

Put 2 tbsp butter in the mixing bowl and melt for 3 min./120°C/speed 1. Add 1 tbsp flour and sauté for 3 min./100°C/speed 2 until light yellow.

Finish sauce

Gradually pour 1/8 liter of the Brussels sprouts broth and 1 liter of milk into the mixing bowl and cook for 5 min./90°C/speed 3 while stirring.

Refine sauce

Remove the mixing bowl from the Thermomix and stir in sugar, nutmeg, salt and 1 egg(s).

Layer and bake casserole

Place Brussels sprouts and sausage in a buttered dish. Pour the sauce over it and sprinkle 100 g of grated Gouda on top. Bake the casserole in a preheated oven at 220°C for about 15 minutes.
