Description

This layered salad is an absolute hit for every party or a relaxed brunch weekend! I've been making it for years and it's always a hit. The special thing about it is that it sits in the fridge overnight, which allows the flavors to combine perfectly. The crisp freshness of the iceberg lettuce harmonizes wonderfully with the spicy leek and the sweet bell pepper. The peas provide a pleasant texture and the onion provides the necessary kick. The whole thing is rounded off with a creamy layer and a light sweetness. Ideal for preparing in advance and bringing along!

Ingredients (10 ingredients)

  • 1 piece Iceberg lettuce, cut into small pieces
  • 1 Stange/n Leek, cut into small pieces
  • 1 piece Bell pepper(s), red, diced
  • 300 g Peas, frozen
  • 1 piece Onion(s), diced or cut into small strips
  • 1 cup Cheese of your choice, grated or cut into sticks
  • 500 g Salad cream
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • to taste Pepper
  • to taste Salt

Preparation (8 steps)

Chop iceberg lettuce

Thermomix® Setting
3 sec/Speed 4

Cut the iceberg lettuce into coarse pieces and put it in the mixing bowl. Chop for 3 sec./speed 4. Transfer.

Chop leek

Thermomix® Setting
3 sec/Speed 4

Cut the leek into rings and put it in the mixing bowl. Chop for 3 sec./speed 4. Transfer.

Chop bell pepper

Thermomix® Setting
3 sec/Speed 4

Cut the bell pepper into pieces and put it in the mixing bowl. Chop for 3 sec./speed 4. Transfer.

Chop onion

Thermomix® Setting
3 sec/Speed 5

Put the onion in the mixing bowl and chop for 3 sec./speed 5. Transfer.

Layer salad

Layer the iceberg lettuce, leek, bell pepper, peas and onion in the stated order in a large bowl. Sprinkle cheese over it.

Seal salad

Seal the layer of vegetables and cheese with salad cream so that an even layer is created. Sprinkle sugar over it.

Let the salad sit

Refrigerate the salad overnight (approx. 12 hours).

Mix and season salad

Before serving, carefully mix the salad and season with pepper and salt.
