Description

This Pasta al Forno recipe is a true classic of Italian cuisine, which I always enjoy preparing. The combination of creamy ricotta, spicy meatballs and an aromatic tomato sauce makes this dish an absolute highlight. Preparation with the Thermomix® is very simple and saves time without sacrificing the authentic taste. Perfect for a cozy family meal or a special occasion. The Pasta al Forno can also be prepared well in advance and tastes almost even better when reheated! A hearty dish that is guaranteed to please everyone.

Ingredients (11 ingredients)

  • 350 g penne rigate
  • 250 g ricotta
  • 1 piece eggs
  • 1 ciuffo parsley
  • 24 g grated cheese
  • 70 g breadcrumbs
  • 350 ml strained tomatoes
  • 0.5 piece onions
  • 0.5 piece carrots
  • 125 g mozzarella
  • 200 ml cooking cream

Preparation (10 steps)

Chop onion and carrot

Thermomix® Setting

Place ½ onion and ½ carrot in the mixing bowl and chop for 3 sec./speed 5.

Sauté vegetables

Thermomix® Setting

Leave the chopped vegetables in the mixing bowl, add 30 ml of olive oil and sauté for 3 min./120°C/speed 1.

Prepare tomato sauce

Thermomix® Setting
10 min/212°F/Speed 1 100

Add 350 ml strained tomatoes and cook for 10 min./100°C/speed 1.

Prepare ricotta meatballs

Place 250 g ricotta, 1 egg, 1 bunch of chopped parsley, 24 g grated cheese and 70 g breadcrumbs in a bowl and mix well. Season with salt and pepper.

Form meatballs

Form small balls (meatballs) from the ricotta mixture.

Fry meatballs

Fry the ricotta meatballs in a pan with a little olive oil until golden brown.

Cook pasta

Cook 350 g penne rigate in salted water according to the package instructions.

Mix pasta, sauce and meatballs

Drain the cooked pasta and mix with the tomato sauce and ricotta meatballs.

Layer casserole

Put half of the pasta mixture into a baking dish. Distribute 125 g of diced mozzarella on top. Add the remaining pasta mixture on top.

Gratinate

Pour 200 ml cream over the casserole and sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C top/bottom heat for approx. 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
